Myth or Reality – Transdermal Magnesium April 8, 2020 – Posted in: CBD Research, Lifestyle – Tags: , , ,

Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a role in hundreds of functions in the body. While we consume it on a daily basis through the foods we eat and supplements we take, many researchers started to question whether it could be used as a transdermal product for the skin.

In its early development, many researchers were suspicious of the claims that magnesium can be absorbed by the skin — much like what we see with CBD. As more studies were conducted, the evidence surrounding transdermal magnesium started to show itself.

One study carried out by Cardiff University in Wales proved that magnesium can be absorbed by the skin almost immediately. It also found that the effects can be accelerated by gently massaging the area where it’s applied.

Another study by Dr. R.H. Waring from the University of Birmingham looked at the effect of magnesium sulfate salts on the body. 19 subjects took daily baths with the magnesium added, having their blood levels and urine samples taken. The study concluded that there was an increase of magnesium concentration in the blood after the baths.

Lastly, a study found in the Journal of Integrative Medicine directed patients with fibromyalgia to spray a transdermal magnesium application onto each limb — since most people with fibromyalgia have a deficiency in magnesium. The patients reported less pain and symptoms, which matched the researchers’ theory.

Although one of the skin’s primary functions is acting as a barrier for outside toxins, it has a strange way of letting in the positive things. If you are one of the many people that don’t consume enough magnesium throughout the day, transdermal magnesium can help your body get what it needs to function.

What Can Transdermal Magnesium Do For You?

Magnesium is one of the most vital minerals to our daily health. It plays a major role in hundreds of different physiological functions, yet nearly 80% of the population struggles to consume enough of it every day.

It’s most commonly found in whole grains, prickly pears, dairy products, legumes, nuts, seeds, and leafy greens, but most people try to avoid these foods — whether it’s because they have allergies or simply don’t like them.

While many will elect to go with an oral supplement to increase their daily magnesium intake, it’s extremely common for people to experience GI disturbances, nausea, and an upset stomach. Luckily this can be prevented with transdermal magnesium, which allows you to bypass the gastrointestinal tract.

Transdermal magnesium has helped people gain control of their magnesium consumption so they can enjoy the many benefits that come with it, including:

  • Regulates blood sugar levels
  • Regulates blood pressure
  • Supports healthy DNA, bones, and proteins
  • Regulates nerve and muscle function
  • Supports healthy pregnancy and lactation

If you’re struggling to get the amount of magnesium your body needs every day, which is 310-420mg, transdermal magnesium is an excellent way of increasing your levels. They’re easy to use and won’t intrude on your daily routine, making it the perfect addition to our CBD Cream!
