CBD Tinctures: How Many Milligrams Do I Need? August 18, 2020 – Posted in: CBD Research, Lifestyle, Uncategorized – Tags: , , ,

If you’re new to the CBD community, shopping for the right product can be a little difficult. There are many different ways to take CBD, a variety of different strengths, and can even come from different plants. Today, we’ll be discussing the different strengths found in CBD tinctures and how to choose the best one for you.

For starters, what is a CBD tincture?

A CBD tincture is essentially an alcohol-infused CBD that can come in a multitude of flavors. It differs from CBD oil because it’s more designed for mixing with food and consuming orally. CBD oil is typically used for vaping. Tinctures will also have a longer shelf-life due to the presence of alcohol acting as a preservative.

Different Strengths of CBD Tinctures

When shopping around, you’ll come across various strengths of each tincture. They’re typically found in 500mg, 1,000mg, or 2,500mg strengths. This number will represent how much CBD is in the entire bottle. The more CBD in the bottle, the more CBD you’ll get per serving — determining the strength.

You’ll receive a dropper, which will help you map out the servings. If your bottle has 30mL of 1,000mg CBD and each drop is 1mL, you’ll be getting 33mg of CBD per serving. In a bottle of 500mg CBD, you’ll get half that amount — 16.5mg of CBD.

You’ll also want to consider whether or not you’re using full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, or a CBD isolate. Full-spectrum CBD products will use the entire hemp plant, including the small traces of THC and terpenes. Broad-spectrum products will eliminate the THC, but keep the terpenes. CBD isolate is nothing but CBD — no THC, no terpenes.

Choosing the Right Product for You

Since CBD is still rather new to everyone, finding the right dosage can be difficult at times. It varies from person to person and will cause different reactions in people. You should always speak with your doctor before considering CBD, but the amount you take will largely be determined by trial-and-error.

We always recommend starting with a lower dose so you can see how you like it first. You should test it out for at least a couple of weeks. From there, decide if you want to increase the dosage or strength.

The 500mg tinctures are best for newbies and those suffering from extremely minor joint pain, discomfort, or stress. Once you get up to the 1000mg tinctures, you’ll be treating some of the more serious issues in your life, whether pain or anxiety. Anything higher than that is best reserved for the seasoned users of CBD tinctures.

At Function Botanicals, we offer three different strengths of full-spectrum CBD tinctures derived from hemp — 500mg, 1,500mg, and 3,000mg. They come with a great taste thanks to the coconut oil and peppermint oil.
